Erg Chebbi Dunes National Park
The excursion takes a 4x4 tour through the hamada (black stone desert) around the dune field of Erg Chebbi, the largest in Morocco, measuring 60 km long and 25 km wide. The 4x4 does not enter the dunes.
To the south of Merzouga, we will reach the place where the dune field meets the black stone mountain. We will arrive at the natural park, where the nomads live, to find the semi-nomadic village of Hassi Merdani, half inhabited, and continue along the virgin river from where we will have views of the border with Algeria. In the end, we will reach the palm trees of the Tisserdimine oasis and return to the hotel.

Camel riding at sunset or sunrise
The sunrise and sunset in the desert is a visual adventure. We offer you the opportunity to take a camel ride excursion inside the largest dune field in Morocco, the Erg Chebbi, to see how the light, color, and shadows of the desert change as the sun rises or sets.
The excursion is led by an expert Berber guide. There is also the option to walk at the same pace as the caravan.

At the Rissani market and the mausoleum of Mulay Ali Ash-Sharif
Rissani is located in the heart of the Tafilalet region. The market is a place of attraction for farmers and breeders in the region. It is the city of the caravan route and an important point in the ancient trade of sub-Saharan gold.
A journey through palm groves, narrow sections of local roads, collapsed ksars, and ancient fortified cities. We will visit the mausoleum of Mulay Ali Ash-Sharif and cross the remains of the legendary city of Sijilmassa.

At the Ksars of Rissani
Rissani, the former capital of Tafilalet, is the cradle of the Alouite dynasty. In 1666, Moulay Er Rachid began the conquest of Morocco.
Rissani and its surroundings still hold the remains of this past time: more than 350 ksars. The old fortified villas allowed for protection against frequent attacks as they were a passage for caravans crossing the desert.
On the same route, we will pass by a part of the wall, remains of the ancient city of Sijilmassa.

Excursion to the Erfoud fossil deposit
The limestone muds loaded with iron oxides and carbonates have, over time, given the fossils of Erfoud a black color. There are different extraction zones near the city.
In Erfoud, as in other cities in the region, one will find turbaned cyclists roaming the streets and paths with aluminum display cases on top full of curious cephalopod fossils.
From a very young age, children go fishing in the land of stones with strange shapes and scientific names: Orthoceros, gonatites, trilobites, phacopods... Around them, they are populated with a large number of Devonian fossils.

In Merzouga, visit the palm grove and climb to the big dune
In the palm grove, we will see the orchards cultivated by each of the Merzouga families, taking advantage of the water that comes from the dune, channeled by the ketaras.
We will go to the main street of the city where its greatest activity is concentrated, in this street you can find everything: bars, souvenirs, clothes, dates, spices, handicrafts, grocery store... In Merzouga, in summer, the baths are typical of clay, which is considered to have medicinal properties.
Finally, we will go to the Great Dune. Climbing to the top will allow us to enjoy excellent views and going down can be a whole adventure!

4x4 excursion in a virgin oasis
The proposal for this excursion consists of seeing the virgin desert during a two-hour 4X4 trip until arriving at an oasis only visited by Berber nomads. In this territory, the desert is absolute. Completely wild life. In the oasis, we will eat and, lying on blankets, we will have a perfect afternoon for a nap in the shade of palm trees.
Throughout the trip, we will make all necessary stops to take photos, walk, and observe what catches our attention along the way. Visit to a fossil quarry in Erfoud where you can see: Orthoceras, goniatites, trilobites, phacopods...
