How to make the most of a 3-day stay in Merzouga

merzougavoyage

If you're planning a trip to the Merzouga desert and only have three days, don't worry: it's enough time to live a unique experience full of nature, culture and disconnection. Here’s a suggested itinerary to help you make the most of your short stay.

Day 1 – Welcome and first contact with the desert

  • Arrival and check-in at the hotel (preferably in the morning or early afternoon).
  • Afternoon rest by the pool or on the terrace, to acclimatise and enjoy the silence of the desert.
  • For a gentle start, you can join our Berber pizza workshop, where you’ll learn how to prepare this traditional dish baked under the sand.
  • Camel ride at sunset to see the dunes from the top.
  • Traditional dinner and live Berber music under the stars.

Day 2 – Adventure and culture

  • 4x4 excursion through the desert: visit to nomadic families, Mifis mine and the most remote areas of Erg Chebbi.
  • Lunch in Khamlia and Gnawa music performance, one of the region’s richest cultural expressions.
  • Free time in the afternoon to relax or enjoy a short desert walk with a local guide.
  • You can also join our henna workshop, where a local artist will decorate your hands while explaining the symbolism behind each design.
  • Dinner and, if the sky is clear (it usually is), desert stargazing.

Day 3 – Sunrise and farewell

  • Early wake-up to watch the sunrise over the dunes.
  • Breakfast and free time for photos, reading or simply enjoying the calm.
  • If you haven't done it yet, the Berber pizza or henna workshops are also available before check-out.
  • Departure with a backpack full of sand... and unforgettable memories.

Experience it to the fullest

All these activities —workshops, excursions, camel rides and more— can be booked directly at our hotel, either in advance or upon arrival. We’ll help you plan the perfect stay to make every moment count.
